The Rancho Trabuco Girls Softball Association held opening day ceremonies for its spring season this past Saturday at Trabuco Mesa Park.
Included in the festivities were Hit-A-Thon and Skills and Agility competitions. The organization also recognized its District 10U Gold Champions.
Highlighting the event was a visit from Lauren Chamberlain, who played for the softball association before a remarkable career at El Toro High and Oklahoma. She was nominated for a 2015 ESPY award for Best Record Breaking Performance.
Chamberlain is now a member of the professional USSSA Pride softball team. The organization renamed one of its fields Lauren Chamberlain Field during the ceremony.
The event also included a parade where all 27 teams – for players ages 4 to 12 – were introduced to a crowd of more than 300 families.
