FAQ
NEED TO KNOW
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I register my child for a program?
Registration is completed online through the RTGSA website. Select the appropriate program, complete the required player and parent information, review and acknowledge the applicable league policies and forms, and submit payment to complete registration.
Program availability, division placement, and team assignments are subject to RTGSA registration requirements and league procedures.
Does my child need experience?
No prior softball experience is required to participate in RTGSA’s Recreational program. We welcome first-time players as well as experienced athletes, and our coaches focus on helping every player build skills, confidence, and game knowledge.
Players interested in Select or All-Star opportunities should expect a more competitive environment and will be evaluated or selected based on the requirements of those programs.
How often do you practice?
Practice is twice a week for the older age groups and once a week for the younger age groups.
What is included in the registration fee?
Registration fees help cover the costs of operating RTGSA programs, including field use and maintenance, insurance, umpires, league administration, equipment, scheduling, and other season-related expenses. Uniforms and other program-specific items may also be included depending on the season and program.
Any additional costs associated with Select, All-Stars, tournaments, or other optional opportunities will be communicated separately. Specific inclusions and fees will always be outlined during registration.
What is your refund or cancellation policy?
Refund requests submitted before teams are formed may be eligible for a refund, less a $25 administrative fee and any non-refundable processing fees or costs already incurred. Once teams have been formed, registration fees are generally non-refundable, except for a documented season-ending medical condition or other extraordinary circumstance approved by RTGSA. Please review the full Refund Policy during registration for complete details.
How can I contact the organization with questions?
Have a question? Use the contact form or email addresses listed on our website and we’ll make sure it reaches the appropriate RTGSA Board member or league representative. For general league questions, you may also contact the RTGSA President at president@rtgsa.org or Vice President at vp@rtgsa.org. We’ll respond as soon as possible.
What equipment is required?
Players should have their own softball glove, cleats, batting helmet, fielding face mask, and labeled water bottle. A personal bat is also recommended and must meet current USA Softball requirements. We also recommend a softball bag or backpack to keep equipment organized and easy to transport to practices and games.
RTGSA may provide certain shared team equipment, including catcher’s gear and practice equipment. Coaches will communicate any additional equipment needs before practices begin.
Are volunteers or coaches needed?
Yes. RTGSA is a volunteer-run organization, and coaches, team parents, field helpers, scorekeepers, concession volunteers, and other league volunteers are essential to providing a great experience for our players.
If you’re interested in coaching or volunteering, you can indicate your interest during registration or contact us directly. No prior coaching experience is required for many roles, and we welcome families who want to get involved and support the RT community.
How will I receive updates and announcements?
RTGSA communicates important league updates through email, the RTGSA website, and TeamSideline. Coaches and team staff may also use team communication tools for practice schedules, game updates, reminders, and other team-specific information.
Please keep your email address and contact information current in your RTGSA account and check league communications regularly so you don’t miss important announcements, schedule changes, registration information, or league events.
Are games played on holidays?
Holiday schedules vary by program. Any planned games or breaks will be communicated in advance.
How are coaches trained or screened?
All RTGSA coaches are required to complete applicable background screening and required training before participating with a team. This includes SafeSport requirements and applicable USA Softball coaching certifications and league requirements.
These safeguards help ensure our coaches understand player safety, appropriate conduct, sportsmanship, and their responsibilities when working with youth athletes.
What is the organization's code of conduct?
As part of registration, parents and guardians are required to review and acknowledge RTGSA’s Parent Code of Conduct. Players, coaches, parents, volunteers, and spectators are expected to demonstrate sportsmanship, respect, and appropriate behavior whenever representing RTGSA.
These expectations apply at practices, games, tournaments, league events, and applicable off-field or team activities. RTGSA expects everyone to treat players, coaches, umpires, opponents, volunteers, and other families with respect and to help maintain a safe, positive environment for our players.
Violations may be addressed in accordance with RTGSA’s Sportsmanship, Conduct & Ejection Policy and other applicable league and USA Softball requirements.
